Colored Pencil - 23" x 27"

Oliva lives in a housing complex in Bogota. In collaboration with a corrupt “non-profit” called  San Isidro Corporation, she,  along with other single mothers, arranged a “rent to buy” housing agreement.

However, the nonprofit has failed to follow through on the agreement. Funds donated from individuals around the globe that are to support residents are pocketed instead by the corporation.

From the Artist

"The red lips and eye makeup show the beauty on the outside of Oliva’s face while the tear running down her cheek tells the real story of pain, sorrow and fear of what is happening to her people and community. She sees her life as fractured, pulled and fading away while so many complex events surround her every day."
